Sustainable Orangetown
The Town of Orangetown is committed to helping combat climate change by reducing energy use, encouraging clean energy alternatives, and implementing sustainable development projects. A task force was approved by the Town Board in March, 2019, comprised of Town employees and volunteers from the community. The group has participated in two NY State programs that help communities seeking to address Climate Change through a broad range of actions: NY State Climate Smart Communities program and NY State Clean Energy Communities program.
Climate Smart Communities
The Climate Smart Communities program(CSC) supports communities around the state, providing technical guidance, recognition, and preferred standing in competitive grant programs. Orangetown is applying for bronze-level certification.
