Town Board Frequently Asked Questions

1. When does the Town Board meet?
Workshop and Town Board meetings are held on Tuesday's. Workshop meetings begin at 8:00pm and Town Board meetings begin at 7:30pm. Meetings are held in Court Room 1 in Town Hall. For the complete schedule of Town Board meetings and Workshops, please view the schedule here.
 
2. May I speak at a Town Board meeting?
 
At workshop meetings, a member of the public may speak to an item on the agenda. At a regular Town Board meeting, there is a public session at the beginning of the meeting for any members of the public who wish to speak on any topic for up to 5 minutes.
 
3. If I cannot attend a Town Board meeting, how do I find out what transpired?
 
Board Meetings are broadcast live for Verizon FIOS customers on Channel 30 and televised the following Saturday on Cablevision Channel 78 at 4:00 p.m.  The Journal News also prints a summary of the meeting following the Tuesday regular (not Workshop meetings) Town Board meeting.
 
4. Who do I speak to about questions with my cable television service?
 
Call Cablevision directly at (845) 624-3500 with questions about programming, service, or billing.
 
5. I just moved here and need to know the name of my trash carter. 
 
Please call the Highway Department at (845) 359-6500 and speak with Karen Jahnes, secretary to the Sanitation Commission, who can tell you the geographic areas of each carter.

9. Who do I speak to about a traffic complaint?
 
The Traffic Advisory Board handles all questions and complaints regarding traffic, such as speeding and traffic signals, within the Town. They meet the first Tuesday of every month at 10:30 a.m. in Court Room 1 in Town Hall. These meetings are open to the public. You may either write a note to ask the TAB to address a specific concern you have or attend a meeting and address the Board.
