PBA Motorcycle Unit

The Orangetown Police Benevolent Association created the Motorcycle unit in 1994 and it made its first public appearances in March of 1995 at the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Pearl River and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC in May of that year.

The self-supporting unit is comprised of 6 OPBA members. The Harley-Davidson Police Special motorcycles were bought and are owned by the OPBA members individually.  The members are responsible for all costs associated with the bikes including equipment, insurance, repairs, registration and inspections.

Special Thanks to O'Toole's Harley Davidson, Wurtsboro, NY

The Police Chief had to sign permissions for the members to purchase the bikes because the bikes are not available for sale to the general public.

The motorcycles are not used for police work, and when not performing their special functions, are stripped of all police emblems and the emergency lights are covered.

The Motorcycle Unit is available for special events such as Parades, Law Enforcement Funerals and Dedications, and other Police benevolent functions.

Contact Sergeant Edward Fitzgerald for information and availability.
