1. Do I need a permit to use an athletic field?

Yes.  Any group looking to use an athletic field must complete the facility use form, provide a certificate of insurance that lists the Town of Orangetown as additionally insured, and pay any usage fee that may be applied.

2. How can I rent a meeting room?  Is there a cost?

In order to rent a meeting room you must contact Judi Smith in this office to check for availability.  Please be advised that Town of Orangetown functions take priority for scheduling purposes.  There is a $40.00 rental fee for each use.

3. Can I register for a recreation program on-line?

No.  At the present time this office does not have on-line registration.  A registration form can be printed from the recreation brochure on the website and dropped off at the office or mailed in with payment.

4. When is the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Pearl River?

The parade is organized by the Rockland County Ancient Order of Hibernians.  It is usually held the Sunday after March 17th beginning at 1:30pm from the Wyeth parking lot in Pearl River.  For more up to date information you can check out www.rocklandcountyaoh.com

5. Where can I get a New York State fishing license?

NYS fishing permits are available in the Town Clerks office located in Town Hall.

6. Are dogs allowed in Orangetown Parks?

Yes.  Dogs are permitted on a leash in the following facilities:  Joseph B. Clarke Rail Trail, Nike Site, Pascack Brook North & South and Tackamack Park North & South.

7. How can I apply for a job at Orangetown Parks and Recreation?

Applications for Blue Hill and Broadacres Golf Course for seasonal work are available in January and are reviewed on an as needed basis.  An application packet for summer employment in the recreation department is available in January at the office as well as on line.  The packet must be completed in its’ entirety prior to being considered for a six week job. 

8. How can I apply for a golf outing at Blue Hill or Broadacres Golf Courses?

A request must be submitted on organizational letterhead in order for the request to be considered.  Outings are held Monday through Thursday at the discretion of the Parks and Recreation Superintendent.  Each request should list 2 – 3 choices of dates in order to allow this department to schedule fairly.

9. How can I get a refund for a program I can’t attend?

Refunds for programs are granted only with a medical note.  A credit for a class that cannot be attended, requested prior to the start of a class, will be placed on file to be used at a later date.  The credit has no expiration date.  If you ask to be removed from a program 5 business days or less prior to the start of a program, a$5.00 registration fee will be deducted from your credit.  Once a program has started no credits will be issued.

10. What type of proof is needed to obtain a golf course residency card?

Three proofs in total are required.  One must be a photo I.D.  A valid NYS drivers license Photo I.D. with an Orangetown address. Other photo I.D. U.S. Passport or Pistol Permit.  Other non-photo acceptable proof can be: tax bill, voter registration card,  utility bill, water bill, cable/satellite television bill, credit card bill (not the actual card, it does not contain an address).  Vehicle registration or vehicle insurance can be used as one proof.

11. Where can I get an Orangetown Senior Citizen Card?

Senior cards can be obtained by contacting or visiting the supervisor’s office located in Town Hall.

12. When and where are the July 4th Fireworks held?

The July 4th fireworks are sponsored by the Pearl River Parks and Activities Committee.  They are held on the 4th of July at the Central Avenue Field in downtown Pearl River.  A concert is usually held prior to the start of the fireworks which go off at 9:45pm.

13. Can I bring a barbeque to use in the parks?

No.  There are a few small hibachis at Veteran’s Memorial Park near the playground area that can be used.  Any other use of fire in a Town Park is prohibited.

14. How can I register my child for the local little league, soccer league, football league, lacrosse league, roller hockey league or basketball team?

The S. Orangetown Little League, Pearl River Little League, Palisades Sparkill Baseball, OMM Soccer, Patriot Football, Piermont Athletic League, Orangetown Lacrosse and Pearl River Hockey are all independent groups and not affiliated with this office. Contact phone numbers, e-mail addresses and websites can be found in the recreation brochure on this website.  As a general rule, leagues register 6 months prior to the start of their season.
