VETERAN'S AND INDEPENDENCE PARK LIGHTING
The athletic lighting at Veteran's Memorial Park and Independence Park have been turn off for the season.  The lights will return in March when the spring weather arrives.


ICE SKATING AT VETERAN'S MEMORIAL PARK
The two ponds are checked daily and this website will be updated as conditions change.  A reminder that red flags equal unsafe conditions and green flags equal safe conditions.  We will also update our twitter account when ice conditions change.

SUMMER EMPLOYMENT APPLICATIONS
Applications are now available for summer employment within the Orangetown Parks and Recreation Office.  Residents must be 16 years of age prior to June 15, 2016 in order to be eligible for employment.  The applications can be found in our downloadable files section on the left of this page.  Student applications will be accepted until March 18, 2016 and interviews will start in late March.  Application questions can be answered by calling the office or emailing recreation@orangetown.com



ORANGETOWN SANTA CLAUS 5K RUN
The 24th annual Santa Claus 5K run and children's races were held on Sunday December 6, 2015. Congratulations to the 267 5K participants, the 18 kid's race participants, overall winners Luke Gavigan and Kristen Walsh and Orangetown Employee Cup Winners Teresa Kenny and Larry Giannetta.  Click here for a listing of overall results and age group winners.

Tickets for the following ski resorts have arrived and are available for purchase.

A flyer with prices can be found here. Tickets are sold from 9:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday (please check holiday hours) and excepted forms of payment are cash or check.  Credit cards will not be accepted for this program. 

TRIP TO EISENHOWER HALL - BEAUTY & THE BEAST
Join us on our trip to the United States Military Academy's Eisenhower Hall for the children's favorite Beauty & The Beast.  This musical spans many generations and includes unforgettable characters, lavish costumes and beloved songs such as "Be Our Guest".  The trip takes place on Sunday, February 28, 2016 and tickets are $52.00 which includes seating and bus transportation.  Tickets are sold on a first come first serve basis, Monday to Friday 9:30am to 4:30pm at the Recreation Office.

Gift certificates are the perfect gift for for your favorite golfer! The certificates can be used for Greensfees and Golf Cart Rental fees, can be of any value and never expire. Acceptable forms of payment are cash, credit or check. Gift certificates are available all year long at the Recreation and Parks Office during normal business hours Monday to Friday and also available at the Blue Hill Golf Course when the course is open.

The Office of Recreation & Parks is selling discounted movie tickets for the new Regal Cinema in the Shops at Nanuet. Tickets never expire! Movie tickets are great gifts for college students, friends, neighbors and even the bus driver. Save up to 30% off the price of the theatre box office price. Please visit our downloadable files section for a flyer with prices, and purchase terms and conditions. Tickets can be purchased between the hours of 9:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday. Accepted forms of payment are cash or check.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Town of Orangetown Parks and Recreation Department is to deliver leisure time opportunities through safe, well-organized and affordable programs and a comprehensive network of parks, trails and open spaces to promote the mental, physical and social well-being of our residents.

 


Program Flyers

The Department mails flyers to its residents three times a year (early March, May and September), outlining the upcoming programs it will offer. Copies of the current flyer are available on this website, at the Office, local libraries or at Town Hall.

The office also has a resource display of brochures from areas of local interest.


Office Hours

The Parks and Recreation Office, located in a historic sandstone house in Veteran's Memorial Park, is open Monday through Friday, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
