Parks & Recreation Advisory Committees

The following citizen committees serve the residents of the Town of Orangetown.  Please contact any of the Committees to express your concerns, suggestions, etc. Please contact the Town Supervisor or the Chairperson of the Committee if you wish to serve on a Committee.


Orangetown Parks Development Advisory Committee (OPDAC)

As the name states, this Committee oversees park acquisition, development and alteration.  Their major goal is to ensure that the Town's recreational and open space needs will be wisely and prudently met.  They also make recommendations as needed to the Planning Board regarding proposed subdivisions and their effect on the current inventory of parks and open space sites.  They meet on a monthly basis.


Blue Hill/Broadacres Golf Operations Advisory Committee

This Committee is involved in providing input and citizen feedback on the many aspects of the operation of the Blue Hill and Broadacres Golf Courses.  The Committee recommends policy on course usage, fees and other operational areas.  They meet on a monthly basis.

 


 

Shade Tree Commission

The Commission administers the Shade Tree planting program and makes recommendations regarding appropriate tree plantings when property is developed or altered.  They meet on a periodic basis.

 


 

Orangetown Open Space Committee

The Open Space Committee was appointed to advise the Town Board of potential open space acquisitions or on other matters involving open space areas within the Town. The Committee meets on a periodic basis.

 


 

Youth Sports/Fields Advisory Committee

This committee was formed to advise the Town Board on common issues facing those youth sports organizations serving the Town of Orangetown.  The Committee meets on a periodic basis.
