Sewer Department

The Orangetown Sewer Department operates and maintains the Wastewater Collection and Treatment Systems for the Town of Orangetown, as well as transporting and treating the wastewater from the Villages of Nyack, Upper Nyack, South Nyack, Grandview, Upper Grandview and Piermont. In addition we treat Sewerage from a portion of the Boroughs of Rockleigh and Old Tappan in New Jersey.

The Orangetown Wastewater Treatment Facility is located in Orangeburg, New York and has recently completed a major renovation which has increased its capacity to 12.75 million gallon per day. Its 1996 average annual flow was 9.9 million gallons per day.

The Treatment Facility provides primary and secondary treatment utilizing module plastic trickling filter media.

The Collation System consists of over two hundred miles of sewer pipe and 39 individual pump stations.

The Treatment Facility is operated and manned continuously; if you experience any sewer related problems, please notify us immediately.

Engineering Department

The Orangetown Engineering Department is committed to protecting the environment and insuring that all necessary services remain functional. Apart from answering questions from the public, the Engineering Department services all other Town Departments as needed and provides technical advice to the Town's Planning and Traffic Advisory Board. The Engineering Department also functions as liaison to other Government agencies and Consultants involving Town and other projects.

The Engineering Department recently wrote a grant application to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for $150,000.00, to do drainage work on the Brunard Ditch in Pearl River. That grant was awarded to the Town on October 1996, and construction will begin in the summer of 1997. The Engineering Department will continue to assist the Town and its residents, and aggressively seek all grants and funding that will benefit the Town of Orangetown.
